Symbol
♌ (A lion’s mane and shoulders)
Description
The fifth astrological sign in the Zodiac, Leo (Latin for “lion”) lies between Cancer to the west and Virgo to the east and is associated with the Nemean lion of Greek mythology, which was killed by Heracles as one of his 12 labors. However, Leo is one of the earliest recognized constellations: the Mesopotamians had identified the shape of the constellation as early as 4000 BCE, the Persians called it Ser or Shir; the Turks, Artan; the Syrians, Aryo; the Jews, Arye; the Indians, Simha. In all cases, the word means “lion”.
Personality Traits
Leos are dynamic, self-confident, and highly dramatic. With their creativity and enthusiasm, people tend to find them very entertaining.
Strengths
Those born under the sign of Leo are gifted with the ability to lead and inspire others. They make great leaders. They are uncomplicated and they think and act big. They use their creativity, energy and intelligence to overcome any obstacle they may encounter.
Weaknesses
On a bad day, Leos can be extremely arrogant and prideful. They can be jealous, aggressive, cold-hearted and may be irritable due to their uncontrollable tempers.
On Relationships
Leos are open, sincere, genuine and trusting. When let down by their partner, they are more disillusioned than most. They are generally poor judges of character because they are trusting. Leos may have numerous love affairs; their love of pleasure and beauty is liable to drive them from one attractive partner to another. They can be deceitful with their lovers, and because of this, their relationships often fail. They may be sincere and generous to their lover — but only while their love for them lasts.
